Gemological Science International (GSI) is one of the largest gemological organizations worldwide, and they want to make sure you are fully educated when it comes time for you to purchase your own diamonds. Debbie Azar is the President & Co-Founder of GSI, and she visited the Bold TV studio to discuss the different types of diamonds and what type may suit you. Lab-grown diamonds have been growing in popularity over recent years, as opposed to natural diamonds, and it is important to know the difference. Lab-grown diamonds hold the same physical and optical properties as natural diamonds, but since they are so new, it is unclear whether their value will remain long-term. Millennials are flocking toward lab-grown diamonds because, on average, they are 40 percent less costly. But Azar tells us that natural diamonds will always maintain their value. That’s why you see them get passed down from generation to generation.
