Hey guys. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Evo Wingbar roof rack system. This system is specifically designed to fit your factory raised rails on your vehicle. I've got it in place just to give you a good idea of what it looks like. With this in place, it's going to allow you to carry roof mount accessories, things like bike racks, kayak carriers, cargo boxes and much more.Let's start by taking a look at the Thule Wingbar itself. It's made out of a lightweight aluminum.

You can pick it up in either black or silver with a powder coat finish. Right away, we don't have to worry about any rust or corrosion. We can leave it on our roof year round. We'll take off the end cap here and look at it's internal construction. The high beams here are going to give it strength and durability. A lot of people when they think of aluminum, they think that it's too fragile, or in this case, they maybe worry about it being able to crush.

With the high beams in place, that's going to prevent that from happening, all in all giving us a weight capacity of 220 pounds. Now with the end cap removed, I also like to talk about the channel up top here. This is out T-slot, so not only are we going to be able to carry those standard clamp on accessories, we'll be able to use that T-slot as well. Now the nice thing about the rubber strip here is that it's split right down the middle, so we don't have to remove it or trim it around those accessories. We can just take that T, slide it in to our desired location and we've got a nice clean look and again, we didn't have to remove that rubber strip. Now if we're using those T-slot accessories, we don't have to completely remove that end cap, we can just turn it to the side and we have access to it there. To fit your specific vehicle, you'll be given a recommended wingbar length. Therefore allowing you to carry those roof mount accessories, but that recommended length may not be long enough.

You may want to consider upgrading that length to carry more accessories. Depending on your vehicle, you may be able to do that. This vehicle's recommended bar length is 47 inches. Lets take a look at the other lengths. Here I've got the black and silver wingbar set up so you can see what they both look like.

On either end we've got the 43 inch, working towards the center, the 47 inch, the 53 inch and the 60 inch. As you can see with that 60 inch, we're going to be able to carry a lot more accessories than we would with the 43 inch. Keep in mind though, it could hang off of your vehicle quite a bit.As you see, these wingbars are a lot more aerodynamic than your traditional round or square bars. They're going to help eliminate some of that drag or wind noise that we experience when we're heading down the road. Now each of the wingbars are 3-1/8 of an inch wide and an inch tall. If you're using those clamp on accessories, be sure that those will work with those dimensions. The T-slot dimensions are 3/4 of an inch wide and 1/8 inch tall. Again, if you're using T-slot accessories, be sure that, that T-bolt or that T-nut will slide into that channel. Now, let's move on to the Thule Evo feet. In the kit, you're going to get a quantity of four and yes, I did mention they're designed to fit your factory raised rails. However, please note that they are a universal fit, so they may fit your raised rails differently. Now the feet themselves are strong and durable, when they're all tightened down, you're not going to have to worry about any movement. As you can see, I'm shaking the entire vehicle here and the plastic is not flexing and it's not shifting from side to side. Now, what's nice about these feet, is underneath our little door here, we'll unlock it, press in on the button underneath to take it off. It hides our tightening bolt. This is going to prevent the elements from getting to it. It's going to deter theft and it's also going to prevent someone from tampering with it.The bolt here is what holds our wingbar to our foot and clamps that foot around your raised rails. Now, it also includes the tool to do so. What's unique about this tool is, you hear an audible click when it's properly torqued down. This is going to prevent you from over tightening it or prevent you from not tightening it all the way. When it's all said and done, and everything's tightened up, the door goes back on, listen for the click and we can lock it up. Now, you can either use a flat head screwdriver or a coin to lock that. Now, if you'd like to upgrade to some metal locking cores, you can pick up four part number TH544, the plastic lock core comes out, the metal ones go in and they're all same key that way
