🏳️‍🌈 pridemonth 🏳️‍🌈 is coming to an end and i wanted to share this song i wrote several years ago when i was booked to play a show in moscow shortly after the russian government had made a new law making it illegal to publicly say that homophobia is bad. i couldn’t go there without saying something, but i didn’t want to go to russian prison either, so i decided to make the core message as simple as possible. more love = better. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 even putin can’t throw me in jail for that i figured. i was still nervous af when i actually sang it there. living in a western big city bubble we often forget how regressive much of the world can be and how the freedoms we take for granted can not be taken for granted. it’s especially easy to forget when hate and prejudice don’t affect us directly cuz we happen to not be queer. but it’s important to raise our voices in solidarity for people who are not like us. ✊ otherwise civilization crumbles
