Back light isn't always as simple as just placing a light behind your subject; the parts of the body the light falls on to can actually be broken down into 4 general terms: Rim Light, Edge Light, Hair Light and Kicker - and each of these can be utilized in cinema, to create, emphasise and carry the feelings of the story being told.

In Part 3, we take a look at Hair Light and Kicker - and how you can use both forms of back light practically - to more obviously and more subtly to separate your subject from the background, whilst carrying the mood and feeling intended for your image.
