Lime Creek Road was the main route between Durango and Silverton Colorado. It was created in the late 1800's. This section is 12 miles long and you should plan on taking 2+ hours to drive it. You want to have high clearance and good tires. It is not a place you want to change a flat tire. The road itself is pretty flat. The main difficulty is the rocks.
