Memory writing depends on reliable access to the past. Techniques exist to help you do just that.

Write much and write often. The more you write the more you will remember and the better you will write what you remember.

Denis Ledoux unpacks many do's and don’t's of memoir writing.
Do accept that you are writing a rough first draft.
Do write for quantity, knowing that will lead to quality.
Do commit to writing a Memory List. (See below.)
Don’t be weighed down by thinking of writing a whole book. Just write a story or vignette today.
Don’t ask if you are good enough. You're clearly on the way to being.
Don’t give in to the perfectionist. perfectionism is your foe.
Don’t listen to your inner critic.
