How to attach a carabiner to a rope? Tree climbing carabiner knots

Описание к видео How to attach a carabiner to a rope? Tree climbing carabiner knots

The termination knots shown here are for types of climbing where you do not take a fall and do not climb above you tie in point. There is a big difference!
If you are into rock climbing and often take a big fall those termination knots are NOT for you.

A termination knot can be used to attach a carabiner to a climbing line that doesn't have a spliced eye. In this video I picked two simple termination knots that can be used to attach a carabiner to a climbing line. The Buntline hitch and the Anchor hitch are both relatively simple but reliable termination knots. I do know there are many others termination knots out there but those two are in my opinion the easiest to tie.

The Buntline hitch is a reliable termination knot that can be used to attach a carabiner to a climbing line. It is the most difficult of the two termination knots. After being loaded the Buntline hitch will be a bit difficult to untie. Fortunately be tied it here as a termination knot around a carabiner. We can therefore simply take the carabiner out of the knot. That will create enough slack to untie the Buntline hitch easily.

The Anchor hitch is in my opinion the easiest termination hitch of the two. Due to it's simplicity it's very safe because the changes to tie the Anchor hitch wrong are limited.

Of course the use of the Anchor hitch and the Buntline hitch is not limited to climbing. They can be used in several situations where a rope needs to be attached to an object.
