You only need to read the version that you need. If you are taking an exam with AHIMA (CCS, CCA, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA) from now until the end of APRIL 2026, you want to read the ICD-10-CM guidelines for 2025.

If you are taking an AHIMA exam (CCS, CCA, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA) May 1 2026 thru April 2027 you want to read the ICD-10-CM guidelines for 2026.

If you are taking an AAPC exam (CPC) from now until the end of 2025, you want to read the 2025 guidelines. If you are taking an AAPC exam Jan 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026 you want to read the 2026 guidelines.

If you are already working or still seeking a job, you need to read the 2026 guidelines.
