A NEW law, the Real Estate Consumer Protection Enhancement Act, took effect in New Jersey on August 1st, 2024.

This "new law" contains 6 MAJOR changes affecting the practice of real estate in New Jersey. The most surprising of which is the requirement of a brokerage service agreement (in writing) before a homebuyer may view any homes for sale with a licensed real estate agent.

The 6 major changes are:
1. The Seller Property Disclosure Condition Form MUST be signed by the buyer PRIOR to entering into contract a home.
2. Brokerage Service Agreements REQUIRED.
3. Designated Agency now allowed in NJ.
4. Agency added as REQUIRED CORE CE topic.
5. Open House Representation Signage Required.
6. Compensation Disclosure Changes Mandated In MLS.
