Since I couldn't find any other information about this and it took me about 5 hours to figure out how to enable mods simply, here is a video for it.

This video is obsolete for the main purpose.
Enabling the mod to play with them is simpler: In the main menu of the game look for the tab "Workshop" and there you can see your subscribed items and can activate them.
