This is a speech about the Indigenous Peoples perspective on the state of our world.., given by Grandfather/Chief Oren Lyons..., and

There have been many treaties and negotiations made..,
but very little respect given to these agreements.
I urge everyone reading this to realize one very important thing about treaty negotiations and settlements made between the government Indigenous Peoples: "Very few settlements have been paid."

Much "reconciliation" is needed.. and much understanding to what the "real history" of this country is.., needs to be digested.

Grandfather Oren R. Lyons Jr. is a "faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan"..,
Onondaga Council of Chiefs, Haudenosaunee (Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy).

He has been active in international Indigenous rights and sovereignty issues for over four decades at the United Nations
and other international forums.

Aside from his work at the University and the Turtle Clan, Grandfather Oren is the co-founder of the national American Indian quarterly news magazine “Daybreak”,of which he has been the publisher, since 1987. He also edited the book Exiled In The Land Of The Free: Democracy, The Iroquois and The Constitution (1992),
a major study of the Indigenous Peoples impact on American democracy and the United States Constitution.
