Chapter 5: "We've Got Hostiles"

Freeman escapes the infested office complex and arrives at a high security storage facility, just underneath the surface. As he makes his way to a lift that can carry him topside, he encounters several elaborate traps by way of automated turrets and tripmines that have claimed casualties both human and aliens alike. Freeman navigates the facility and finally meets the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit (HECU), soldiers who were said to have come to rescue the survivors. However, they seem to have a much more ruthless agenda...

Notes:
From user "IronFist" - "you can save the first science from being exploded by tripmines and being killed by turret if you quickly break emergency glass near first blast door, as I remember he'll comment on it" (0:12)
It would seem that the HECU have already made their way down to the storage facility prior to Gordon's arrival, as evident by their corpses (0:55) and traps
Turrets can only be disabled by damaging them; if a turret simply falls over by itself and does not sustain enough damage it will still be considered active
HECU turrets can be picked up, after which they become reprogrammed to target enemies, including HECU soldiers (2:32). They will still shoot Gordon if he stands in front of them though, and run out of ammunition very fast
The two workers at 2:56 will not cower and run for cover if Gordon successfully navigates the tripwires without disturbing the turrets. Doing this will cause one of the workers to say "Stupendous!"
It is possible to save the scientist from being executed by the first Hgrunt at 4:43. Doing so will elicit a reaction from the scientist ("I do believe he was trying to KILL me!!")
It is possible to crouch and jump through the tripmines/tripwires at 7:09 to avoid going through the alternate path
Similarly, Gordon can easily take out the tripmine at 8:01 with a well-timed grenade to go through that way
It is possible to save both scientists at 8:24, though as far as I know they don't have any voicelines
One of the Hgrunts at 9:01 has an RPG; however he was never given the opportunity to use it. I wanted to show it being fired but never got a good recording out of it.
All the wooden crates in the mezzanine at 9:57 contain one shield battery each

Trivia:
The intro sequence at 0:06 was re-done for the Definitive Edition - the Guard is now shown fighting a Zombie before being grabbed from behind, unlike prior versions where he was just chilling against a corner
G-man makes his fifth appearance at 3:27
The submachine gun that Gordon picks up at 5:13 is a Heckler & Koch MP5. Funnily enough, it features an underslung grenade launcher that Gordon never has to physically load, and is capable of firing three grenades without reloading
The MP5 is the only weapon in the game with considerable recoil; if Gordon holds the trigger the weapon will become much more difficult to aim as the kick is quite heavy with sustained fire
In the mod release, the shotgun was obtained once the player reaches the security booth seen at the start of the chapter. In prior versions leading up to the Definitive Edition, the Shotgun was instead obtained from the Shotgunner at 10:49, just before the freight elevator
In prior versions of the topside battle there were two Hgrunts in the warehouse immediately after Freeman comes out of the lift (11:47). These are now removed and obstacles placed in front of the lift (can't time a shot to the song's drop anymore...)
The warehouse at 11:49 actually has a ton of loot (health and shields) in the side rooms, but I skipped these to keep my pace with the soundtrack
The mortars can and will damage and kill the grunts indiscriminately if they are in the strike zone with Freeman
Funnily enough the Osprey can also occasionally get damaged by the mortar, after which it will start emitting fire from its main body
The Osprey at 12:20 will keep dropping off HECU outside the perimeter fences no matter how many Gordon kills
In the Definitive edition, the bunker door is now closed at 12:42, forcing Gordon to have to travel to the other side to enter it
In HL1, the drop at 13:22 is populated with various ducts leading to different rooms, a sort of "vent maze". This was removed in Black Mesa but is available in the Steam Workshop as a mod
The story of the HECU voice is quite interesting. The HECU had a different voice back in the mod release, with a radio filter (Voice actor: Chris Mertens). They sounded much more sinister and evil back then. In the Steam release, the voice was redone by Michael Tsarouhas, who is known for his work on voicing soldiers in the game Insurgency, which made the HECU sound much more human and emotive. However, the radio filter was brought back for grunts that sport gas masks.
