Hokuriku Shinkansen action at Toyama station (Toyama Prefecture) The Hokuriku Shinkansen operates a mix of E7 (operated by JR East) & W7 (operated by JR West) Series Shinkansen trains.

In October 2019, Typhoon Hagibis caused wide-spread flooding at Nagano, which led to a total of 10 trains (8 E7 + 2 W7 Series) getting scrapped due to floodwater damage. Since then, the Hokuriku Shinkansen system has been operating at a slightly reduced frequency.
