First round of the 1996 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix Season. Luca Cadalora scores victory in his first race with the Kanemoto Honda team, while Mick Doohan struggles with a chunked tyre on his way to 5th place. This race was red-flagged after 10 laps due to rainfall and was restarted over the remaining race-distance. The final results were decided by combining the results of the first-half of the race with the second-half of the race.
