Ahn Sanghak was born in North Gyeongsang Province, Andong City in 1962. He debuted when his poem “Shinchon in November 1987” won the Joongang Ilbo New Writer’s Contest. He has published poetry collections Are you All Right? (1991), Andong Soju (1999), An Old Postcard (2003), Remembering Dad (2008), and When that Person Came Back I Was Not There (2014).). He has also published a critical biography, Kwon Jong-dae: A Farmer who Dreamed of Harvesting Unification (2004), as well as an illustrated poetry book, Reading the Flowers in Poetry (2015). He has been awarded the Gosan Literary Award (2015), and the Kwon Jeong-Saeng Creative Fund (2016).
