Gonggong is one of the largest known objects in the Kuiper Belt, with an estimated diameter of about 1,500 kilometers (930 miles). It has a reddish color, likely due to the presence of complex organic compounds on its surface. Gonggong's orbit is also highly eccentric, and it takes about 549 Earth years to complete one orbit around the Sun.

Both Eris and Gonggong are significant objects in the study of the outer solar system and provide valuable insights into the formation and evolution of the Kuiper Belt. Their discoveries have also led to discussions and debates about the definition of a planet and the classification of celestial bodies in our solar system.
