The fiery blaze that broke out at noon in Limassol turned deadly and swept away everything in its path, destroying property and leaving behind one dead person, while other trapped people are trying to escape the flames.
According to the latest developments, a person was found dead on the Lania-Alassa road, who according to initial information was trying to leave the area in his vehicle, but was unable to do so.
The victim was found inside his vehicle, with the Police rushing to the scene to conduct investigations, while at the same time an operation has been set up to rescue people trapped in the village of Lofou.

As stated by the community leader of Lofou, Yiannis Neophytou, despite the fact that the approximately 230 residents of the community had been informed in good time about the evacuation, 36 residents remained in the village, which was eventually surrounded by flames.
The residents of the Vasa Koilaniou community are in a state of panic, having thrown themselves into the battle with the flames, which according to the Community Leader, Michalis Mosfilis, are moving at an alarming speed and have already caused incalculable damage to property.

Speaking to CNA, the Community Leader of Vasa Koilaniou said that several houses have already burned down, the number of which is currently unknown, while a hotel unit is also burning at the moment.
Earlier, the Police called on citizens in the villages of Omodos, Koilani, Vasa Koilaniou, Potamiou and Arsos to comply with the instructions of the Police, the Fire Service and the Civil Defense, to facilitate the evacuation of the area.
The voracious flames from the fire front that broke out at noon in the community of Mallia and spread to Vasa Koilaniou, Omodos and Vouni are destroying everything in their path, forcing the competent services to evacuate the villages.
Among the buildings that have been destroyed is the church of Agios Ioannis the Russian, located in Vouni. As can be seen in photos from the scene, the flames were burning the roof, while it is also visible that there are flames burning inside the church.
As can be seen from the images arriving from Limassol, the front is huge and has affected several villages, while there is information about damage to many homes and vehicles.

President Nikos Christodoulides visited the Fire Fighting Coordination Center in Agios Ambrosios, Limassol, to receive updates on the ongoing wildfire response.
He described the situation as very serious, with over 250 personnel deployed and challenging weather conditions hampering efforts.
The President stressed that protecting human life is the top priority, urging residents to follow evacuation orders.
While acknowledging significant property loss, he assured that the State will fully support recovery efforts once the fire is under control.
He appealed for public cooperation, emphasizing unity and patience until the situation improves.
