Update from my original post. POC Hip VPD 2.0 protected me from a nasty fall. I was racing down Deer Creek Canyon trail in Colorado about 20 mph. I hit a water bar at an angle and wiped out against its gravel road. The fall tore my TLD knee/shin pad, but I was very well protected. Normally, I would suffer a major bruise on my side/hip area. Not this time! With the POC Hip VPD short, I walked away with minor scratches in the areas that weren't covered by the short. Money well spent.
