Next Steps: Goldwork & Silk Shading Course

The Royal School of Needlework are proud to present this online course covering Goldwork and Silk Shading. Join RSN Tutor Chrissie Juno Mann In this intermediate follow-on course to learn a variety of new techniques and create a sparkling butterfly design. The accompanying kit, which will be posted out to you, includes all the materials you require to complete the project. 

To create this stunning design, elements of the wings, flowers and leaves are embroidered using Long and Short Stitch – also known as Thread Painting – using stranded cottons. After applying padding for a three-dimensional effect, the Silk Shading is contrasted by gold thread detailing, worked in a variety of Goldwork techniques. The piece is completed with the addition of gold spangles.
