Burns Mini Trisonics Review

Описание к видео Burns Mini Trisonics Review

Hi - here's my review of the Burns Mini Trisonic Pickups!

I did this video because after a lot of researching before building the guitar you see in this review, I couldn't find many comprehensive videos on the pickups that had good sound quality. I hope this does the trick.

The guitar is my own creation; kind of. It's been in my head for a long time and I decided to build it this summer. The body and neck I ordered from www.usacustomguitars.com and I thoroughly recommend them. They have a huge range of options on their website and are happy to discuss any special requirements you might have.

This guitar has a mahogany body with a 1/8" maple cap. It's routed for 3x pickups (the bridge route is normally angled like a strat but I wanted mine all in line like Brian May's! It has a Wilkinson V100 2 point bridge ordered from Stewmac (the body was predrilled to accommodate this). The neck is roasted maple, ebony fretboard, medium jumbo frets, and I installed a Graphtech Nut.

The body is stained using simple ink - the kind used to top up rubber stamp pads. 1 coat of black ink sanded back, then several coats of dark blue ink to build the colour up. The guitar was finished with several coats of wipe on poly.

For finishing advice I thoroughly recommend Brad Angove's YouTube Channel -    / bradangove

The pickups are wired in the same way as Brian May's Red Special; each pickup has an on/off switch and a phase switch, master volume and tone.

To record the guitar on this review I played through my Mesa Boogie Express Plus 5:25 Amp set on the 5W setting. The first part of the review was done on the clean channel, gain around 50%, and a touch of reverb. For the boosted part of the demo I engaged a British Pedal Company Rangemaster Treble Booster clone pedal which remained on full the whole time, whilst I switched the amp to a slightly higher gain channel (but not too gainy as the pedal really pushes the tubes here!).
Mics used was 1 MXL 440 Condenser placed right in the centre of the speaker cone.

Hope you enjoyed the review! Thanks
