VELLAGAVI - A Hidden Village | VATTAKANAL

Vellagavi, a 400-year-old village within the dense forests of Kodaikanal, can only be reached on foot.

This village of 150 people is sacred. the number of temples is more or less the same as the number of houses, and the villagers don’t use footwear at all in reverence to their many different Gods.

Although leopard attacks on domestic animals have been reported, these leopards are known to be shy of humans. Either way, it is advised to avoid camping alone.

Trekking to this village for long hours through the deep forest can be testing.
But once you get there, you will understand why it is a hidden treasure.
