The InterContinental New York Times Square, a place where dreams are supposed to come true, but for me, it was a nightmare that I'll never forget. As I stepped into the grand lobby, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Little did I know, it was all just a facade.
I had booked this hotel for my daughter's 13th birthday, a milestone celebration that was supposed to be a memorable experience for both of us. But, oh, how wrong I was. The room was a disaster, with sheets and blankets strewn all over the floor, not even bothered to be tucked in. The seaweed smell that lingered in the air was nauseating, making me wonder if they had even bothered to clean the room before our arrival.
And don't even get me started on the bathroom. Mold-covered walls and ceilings, a dirty chocolate wrapper carelessly discarded by a previous guest, and a bathtub that refused to drain. It was like they wanted us to get sick. I felt like I was walking into a biohazard zone, not a luxurious hotel.
But, of course, that was just the beginning. The amenities fee, oh, the infamous amenities fee. It was like they were playing a cruel joke on us. "Use it on the minibar," they said. But, no, it was never replenished. "Enjoy room service," they promised. But, no, the phone just kept beeping with an error message. And don't even get me started on the coffee. Two capsules on day one, and then, nothing. It was like they wanted to deprive us of our caffeine fix.
I was beginning to feel like I was trapped in some kind of twisted game, where the hotel was the predator, and I was the prey. The staff was completely unhelpful, more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to our needs. Irene, the rude receptionist, refused to acknowledge my husband's Platinum Elite membership, forcing him to call from overseas just to check-in. It was like they wanted to make our lives as difficult as possible.
And then, there was the food. Oh, the food. Rotten, stale, and complet
