The sun had begun to set as we arrived at Wewathenna, a remote and beautiful forest reserve in Sri Lanka, renowned for its thick canopy, vibrant wildlife, and serene ambiance. My friends and I had been planning this camping trip for weeks, excited to immerse ourselves in nature and leave behind the noise of the city.

After setting up our tents, we decided to explore the breathtaking views around us. The sight of the forest stretching endlessly, with mountains and valleys in the distance, left us speechless. The calm, pristine beauty of nature was the perfect escape from our hectic lives.

we gathered around a campfire, the crackling flames casting shadows on the trees around us. The air was cool, filled with the scent of fresh earth and the distant call of nocturnal birds.

we started cooking dinner—a simple meal of noodles and meatballs. The warm food and the crackling fire were just what we needed after a long week of work.

After dinner, we sat around the fire, talking about our busy work lives. It was nice to finally have some time away from the hustle and relax in each other’s company. The conversation flowed easily, and we realized how much we had missed moments like these.

By midnight, the peacefulness of the forest lulled us into a quiet calm, and we decided to get some sleep.

Early the next morning, we woke up just in time to watch the sunrise, the golden light slowly spreading over the forest. The view was breathtaking, and we stood there, appreciating the beauty and serenity of nature.

For breakfast, we made a hearty meal of soup, bacon, sausage, egg scramble, and toast, enjoying the calmness of the morning. After breakfast, we relaxed for a bit, soaking in the last moments of the peaceful surroundings. Finally, we packed our bags and began the journey back home, feeling refreshed and recharged from our time in Wewathenna.

It was a simple yet perfect getaway, reminding us how important it is to disconnect and find peace in nature every now and then.
