Authorities in Myanmar have declared martial law in more districts following the deaths of around 50 people. Chinese-financed factories were also set ablaze in an industrial zone in the main city of Yangon, marking the country's bloodiest day since its military coup.

Associate Professor in International Business at Curtin University, Htwe Htwe Thein, says “many people in the country believe the Chinese government might have been behind the coup”.
