A course in theatre and performance for social change and personal development. Students specialise in making theatre with non-professional groups and for specific audiences, often creating work outside of traditional theatre institutions and buildings. Students acquire a practical and theoretical understanding of how theatre-making inspires new possibilities.

Focusing on practices in diverse settings, such as schools, hospitals, prisons, refugee camps, community centres and nursing homes, Drama, Applied Theatre and Education (BA DATE), has a long heritage of innovative research-led practice. Throughout, you will engage with performances, practices and practitioners, creating your own work and interrogating its effectiveness in different settings. You will acquire skills in devising and facilitating, with opportunities to specialise in playwriting and filmmaking. You will work with colleagues to devise performances, and outreach projects, and undertake placements in arts and education organisations. BA DATE graduates are highly employable and lead the field in applied theatre internationally.
