The biggest party in sports the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) returns to Trinidad! The atmosphere was electric last time and come Friday evening we can expect an even bigger crowd at Brian Lara Stadium. In match 16 of tournament Trinbago Knight Riders will face off against Barbados Royals on Saturday August 30 (Friday August 29 local time).

The Knight Riders cruised to a comfortable win in their last outing cheered on by a nearly packed home crowd. They currently sit third on the points table but a win on Saturday could take them to the top. In their first home game of the season the Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bowl against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons.

Mohammad Amir set the tone early striking twice in the very first over. Sunil Narine had a rare off day going wicketless in his four overs. However Akeal Hosein made an impact after being introduced late into the attack claiming two wickets for just 25 runs. Andre Russell delivered at the death picking up 2 for 23 in his four overs helping restrict the Falcons to 146/7.

In reply the hosts lost Colin Munro early but Alex Hales anchored the innings with a hard-fought half-century. He stitched together an 87-run stand for the second wicket with Keacy Carty. Nicholas Pooran then came in at number four and finished the chase in style smashing a couple of sixes to seal the win with eight balls to spare.

On the other hand the Barbados Royals are struggling at the bottom of the table winless after three games. They’ve lost two matches while one was washed out due to rain. Looking for their first victory the Royals travelled to St Lucia to take on the defending champions. Unfortunately inclement weather forced both teams to share the points.
