Episode 36
“Obligation vs. Gift”
August 18, 2024
Perspective plays into how we are viewing our Sunday attendance and Holy Days of Obligation. Meredith and Jessica talk about how their perspective of attending mass on Sundays and Holy Days has gone from the OBLIGATION to the perspective of attending mass as a GIFT.
Bible Verse: John 4:24 - “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Perspective plays into how we are viewing our Sunday attendance and Holy Days of Obligation.
Holy Days of Obligation are feast days in the Catholic Church that require Catholics to attend Mass and avoid servile work. Here are some Holy Days of Obligation in 2024:
January 1: Mary, the Holy Mother of God
May 9: Ascension of the Lord
August 15: The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
November 1: All Saints Day
December 9: The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
December 25: Christmas
Challenge: The next time you are away from your church on a Sunday, look up a catholic church and attend mass while away.
