The ensuing trial was swift, leading to a conviction of murder and a sentence of death by hanging. Despite his sentencing, Taylor maintained his innocence until his last moments on the gallows. The case took a twist years later when Rosenberg, on his deathbed, confessed to the actual murder. The location of the hanging, at the Joe Davis County Poor Farm, remains a site of ghostly folklore, with many claiming to see supernatural occurrences, contributing to the legends surrounding the area and its history of housing the mentally ill and less fortunate citizens.
