Описание к видео Governor Hindmarsh lands at Glenelg

In 1936 South Australia celebrated 100 years since its foundation as a British colony.

One of the events held to mark the occasion was this re-enactment of the landing of Governor Hindmarsh from HMS Buffalo. Following the disembarkation of the mock settlers, the crowd heads to the nearby Old Gum Tree to view a re-enactment of the reading of the Proclamation.

Filmed by Percival Moody in 1936.

The State Library holds more than 200 segments of film taken by Percival Moody. Born at Kent Town in 1890, he filmed historic South Australian events, occasions and attractions between 1929-1950, and raised funds for charity through public film screenings.
