India developing a fighter jet with a naval base for defense purposes. At Aero India 2023, the aircraft design's final stage was on show. This plane will play a crucial part in the aircraft carrier.

TEDBF stands for Twin-Engine Deck-Based Fighter, which is a naval fighter aircraft that is currently under development by India's Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The Indian Navy had expressed a requirement for a carrier-based fighter aircraft to replace their aging fleet of Russian-made MiG-29K fighters. In response, the Indian government initiated the TEDBF program in 2017, with the aim of developing an indigenous naval fighter aircraft capable of operating from the Indian Navy's aircraft carriers.

In reaction to the Indian Navy's displeasure with flying a single-engine carrier-based fighter based on the HAL Tejas and its subsequent withdrawal from the naval LCA program in 2016, the program was formally announced in 2020. During Aero India 2021, a model of the aircraft was on show. The first flight is anticipated for 2026, and production is scheduled to begin in 2031.
