Luna Lovegood has proven herself to be much more than just loony. In addition to being creative, kind, smart, and incredibly brave, Luna is also one of the most self-accepting “Harry Potter” characters who teaches Harry how to accept himself and deal with his grief. They bond over being able to see Thestrals, losing a parent, and feeling constantly judged by the people around them. Without Luna there to support him, Harry might never have been able to overcome his grief and do what he had to do to defeat Voldemort.

But Luna isn’t only important because she’s always there for Harry. She’s also one of the most essential characters that helps take down the Dark Lord. She followed Harry and his friends on a dangerous mission to the Ministry of Magic. She was a big part of Dumbeldore’s Army and returned to fighting for good even after she was imprisoned in Bellatrix Lestrange’s basement. And she was also the one who helped Harry find Ravenclaw’s diadem, which was the last missing Horcrux they needed to locate before defeating Voldemort. Sure, Luna is quirky and weird and fun, but she’s also a powerful witch, a trusted ally, and an irreplaceable friend.

Luna teaches us so much about being ourselves, accepting our friends for who they are, and being strong in the face of danger or sadness. Luna is a powerhouse of a character, and we can’t imagine “Harry Potter” without her.
