Padma Shri Prof. Sudhir K. Jain assumed charge of 28th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University on 7th January, 2022. He addressed the media after assuming office and called upon all members of BHU fraternity, alumni, well wishers and friends of the varsity to join his efforts in taking the university forward. Prof. Jain is a globally renowned scholar of earthquake engineering. Prior to joining BHU as Vice-Chancellor, he was serving his third term of Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar. He has had a over three and a half decade long academic and administrative stint in IIT Kanpur.
