If you lived in Southern California the odds are good that you’ve heard of Daniel McGinn, he's been involved in the local poetry community for over 30 years. He recently retired to Little River, South Carolina, near the Atlantic Ocean and Carolina Woods. This is a rare visit to his old stomping grounds. He’s thrilled to read at the Ugly Mug; it really is a home away from home. The poet, Rachel McKibben, has said of Daniel McGinn, his writing speaks with a skinless honesty. It is never overdressed and even his sorrows are strangely comforting. I envy anyone that gets to experience McGinn’s poetry for the first time.

Daniel McGinn’s work has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies. His recent chapbook, Drowning the Boy, won the James Tate Poetry Prize for 2021.
