Topic Description:
Time is a measurement skill, but first, students learn to tell time on an analog clock to the hour. They also learn the days of the week and the months of the year.

Learning Targets:
I can read a clock to tell the time to the hour.
I can look a time and tell which clock is showing that time.
I know the days of the week in order.
I know the months of the year in order.

Suggested Teaching Sequence:
1. Work with a calendar every day as part of the classroom routine, teaching months and days.
2. In this unit, Introduce time on an analog clock, including the actions and purposes of the hour hand and minute hand.
3. Practice telling time to the hour as a group.
4. Independent practice with time to the hour.
5. Review the sequence for days of the week.
6. Review the sequence for months in a year.

Extension Activities:
Use Matholia games with varying levels, create books on time of day using illustrations and clock faces, make a calendar.
