While ordinary Nepalis grappled with unemployment, rising inflation, and severe poverty, the children of the nation's political and business elite—known as "Nepo Kids"—were flaunting their lavish lifestyles online. This glaring disparity ignited a massive youth-led protest against government inefficiency, deep-rooted corruption, and economic inequality. Social media became a battleground where posts showcasing the elite's designer bags, luxury vehicles, and expensive foreign trips went viral under hashtags like #nepobabies and #PoliticiansNepoBabyNepal. These images were starkly contrasted with pictures depicting the struggles of common people facing floods, power cuts, and soaring food prices, fueling a nationwide "Gen Z Revolt".

The online outrage escalated into violent street protests, with demonstrators setting fire to government buildings, the private homes of senior leaders, and attacking the Nepal Parliament. The public's anger was intensified by systemic corruption, as Nepal is ranked by Transparency International as one of the most corrupt nations in Asia. Despite major scandals, convictions were rare, reinforcing the belief that the political elite were protected. The government's attempt to suppress dissent by temporarily banning social media backfired, only strengthening the movement. After a three-day, bloody protest that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli was forced to resign, and Sushila Karki was appointed interim Prime Minister at the demand of the youth
