Sometimes the weather Gods don't cooperate. Michael came up all the way from North Carolina and was originally scheduled to fluke fish with his crew (including brother Bob, friend Bob and repeat customer Faisal) on Wednesday, August 14, his 50th Birthday. Alas, the strong winds pushed our trip back to Thursday, August 15 where again we were met with strong east winds that prevented us from fishing the ocean. Instead, for most of the trip, I pointed the bow of the boat directly into the wind, bumped one engine in and out of gear and halved the drift speed from 2-2.5 to 1-1.3.

While not one of those legendary trips we've experienced in the past, there was a consistent and solid bite resulting in a full limit of sea bass, 30 to 40 short fluke and enough keeper fluke to just over 7 pounds to keep everyone happy.
