Galle Marvels, previously Galle Titans, will take on Jaffna Kings in the second match of the Lanka Premier League 2024 on 2nd July 2024 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium at 3 pm IST. The higher NRR helped them advance to the playoffs over the Colombo Strikers. In the previous two seasons - 2022 and 2021 - Jaffna Kings had featured in the top two after the league stage. Overall, the Jaffna franchise has won 25 of the 40 games they played in the Lanka Premier League, which gives them a win rate of 62.5% - the highest among all the franchises playing more than 15 games.

In batting, Avishka Fernando has looked good recently, averaging 34 in the last three games at a strike rate of around 135. Afghanistan star bowlers Noor Ahmed and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth will lead the bowling. This year, a completely new team will be led by a new captain, Charith Asalanka, under whom they will try to win the championship like they did in the first season.

They made it to the playoffs in the last two seasons but could not reach the finals.

In this season's LPL, they will have a new captain in Niroshan Dickwella. The team is in good hands with Sanath Jayasuriya as the mentor and Graham Ford as the head coach. Franchises from Galle have played 39 matches so far, winning just a third of them.
