Visiting the Miranda Shorebird Reserve, Firth of Thames, New Zealand || A quiet walk

Описание к видео Visiting the Miranda Shorebird Reserve, Firth of Thames, New Zealand || A quiet walk

A few weeks ago, I visited the Miranda Shorebird Reserve. This reserve is protected under a QEII covenant and is part of the Firth of Thames Wetlands, a large coastal wetland that is protected under the international RAMSAR convention. It provides vital feeding and breeding ground for many bird species which visit New Zealand as part of their migration.
In the footage, you can catch glimpses of black swans on the water, however these are not a native species to New Zealand. Unfortunately, the native birds I did see where too little and far away for the GoPro and their calls were often drowned out by the wind and conversation, so what you hear in this video isn’t natural for this area, just something peaceful I found online.
