There has always been awareness that the advertising industry has had a major diversity problem. But since the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter Movement, it has been seen that the big agencies and their holding companies take a lot of one-off gestures and actions to show their solidarity in the fight for racial equality. But the reality is that they have no idea how to address decades of systemic racism that has plagued the industry. Writing checks, circulating memos on unconscious bias, supporting #BlackOutTuesday and making Juneteenth a company holiday does little to nothing to address the very real and substantive change required.

The multicultural/ethnic agencies have held brands accountable to speak to their diverse consumer bases and to a larger degree, given those who aspired to be in the marketing/communications industry, a place to have viable careers that oftentimes were not afforded, until recently, in the general market agency/holding company space.

Moderator Dorinda Walker, Cultural Solutions Group will talk to these iconic leaders who have been the business and community trailblazers in the marketing communications industry.
