Описание к видео Eavesway Van Hool TDX21A Altano tri-axle tour buses with left rear exit in Liverpool, UK 5/21/23

These are Eavesway Van Hool TDX21A Altano tri-axle tour buses with left rear exit seen here at Sefton Park in Liverpool, UK on 5/21/23. These coaches were hired by Viking for the tours of Liverpool and were some of the very nicest buses we road during the entire British Isles Explorer Cruise. And, even more importantly than simply being super nice, they had left rear exits. Left rear exits you may say. What is the big deal? Why am I even raising the issue? Not because of any obsession with buses but rather pure practicality from the perspective a cruise passenger. This issue doesn't seem like it should be a big deal, but it sort of turns out to be, because during my second excursion on this cruise, on the Shetland Islands, I couldn't understand how some 8+ minutes after I got off the bus why passengers were still exiting the bus. How could they be that slow? Turns out the reason was simple--there was only one exit at the front. No rear exit on either side, and it suddenly hit me--the UK was not building any buses of their own and thus because they drove on the wrong side of the road compared to almost the entire rest of the world, all the standard produced buses from other countries would have right side rear doors which would force passengers to disembark right into traffic, an obvious no no due to safety. So, after several days of buses without left rear exits plus the fact Viking apparently owns very few if any buses in the UK, I had essentially given up on the idea. But then these lovely beauties appeared, buses like I had never seen both from their green hub caps to the lovely purplish ceiling lights. Turns out these buses are manufactured in Belgium by the Van Hool Company and Eavesway specifies left rear exits for their buses in the UK. Van Hool builds some 1700 buses annually and Eavesway has been in business since 1931 with headquarters in the Liverpool suburbs, and beginning in the 1980's, the third generation of the family began a focus on increasingly high quality and specialized work regarding the coach operation. To the best of my recollection, these were some of the very nicest, most fully equipped buses hired by Viking during the entire cruise. I wish Eavesway had more coaches like this all over the UK. If my experience is any indication, left rear exit tour buses are very rare in the UK so I hope Viking figures out how to get more. If you're in the Liverpool area needing a really big coach and/or a really nice one, Eavesway would be a good place to start. To be honest, when I first published my purple ceiling light bus video, I hadn't realized it was these Eavesway buses that had it built by Van Hool. I, for one, really like it a lot. P.S. After posting this, I made the realization these buses lack 4-wheel steering which in many places in Europe can be a huge advantage when trying to turn into narrow streets or simply making sharp turns. Other than that, they are lovely, lovely buses.
