************************************************ Filmed with BMPCC6K, BRAW, 8:1, graded with DaVinci Resolve 17 (identically).
Comparing Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 against the Zeiss 21mm F/2.8. Tried to match them as close as I could to reveal the differences between them. The Zeiss lens exhibits a slight colour shit to the green whereas the Sigma is shifting more the magenta. Also Sigma is a tad sharper.
Both are excellent lens choices and Zeiss (used) can be found for even cheaper than the Sigma.


Main advantages of the Zeiss lens:
- for me it has a bit more filmic look
- CA's are not as pronounced
- way smaller and lighter
- focuses closer than Sigma
- made of brass (not plastic)
- Nikon version has manual aperture control
- proper manual focus with a hard stop
- manual focusing is way nicer - very well dampened but also easy to move with just one finger
- larger focus through
- can be found cheaper (if you are lucky, the prices are rising)

Main advantages of the Sigma lens:
- zoom (so you have few more focal lengths built in)
- weather-proofed
- a tad sharper
- performs better with ghosting
- better for low light due to being a f/1.8
- much more available on the used market


My personal pick - I went with Zeiss and after editing this video I think they are both fantastic - you wont go wrong with choosing either. But I do like my gear to feel good in my hands as well as deliver the colour without needing to correct it straight out. Plus Zeiss focuses closer and personally f/2.8 for me for video is even better. Plus it is fully manual and focus through is a lot wider on Zeiss and makes is a pleasure to operate with.
