Today Leo takes a detailed look at the ASRock X870E Taichi OCF, an overclocking-focused motherboard designed for AMD’s AM5 platform.

The OCF (Overclocking Formula) branding brings a stripped-back layout, physical OC controls, dual BIOS support, and a heavy emphasis on manual tuning. On paper, it is aimed squarely at enthusiasts and test-bench users. In practice, modern AM5 processors - particularly X3D CPUs - behave very differently to older platforms when it comes to overclocking.

In this review, we compare the Taichi OCF to the regular X870E Taichi, examine ASRock’s own overclocking guidance, explore BIOS behaviour, and test how the board behaves when pushing memory speeds and base clock adjustments.
