#Egypt has condemned #Ethiopia's decision to begin electricity generation from one of the 13 turbines of the #BlueNile mega dam.

Ethiopian Prime Minister (PM) Abiy Ahmed noted that the project will greatly contribute to Ethiopia’s economic development.

Egyptian authorities condemned Ethiopia’s move and said that it was announced “unilaterally” without consulting Egypt or Sudan. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that the move to begin electricity production is a violation of the 2015 ‘Declaration of Principles’ (DoP) signed by all three countries.
