BTC #45 | IS-VIEWER N64 Development Cartridge Running on an SGI INDY - Printing Color Debug Messages

In this video I give an in-depth demo on the IS-VIEWER 64 development cartridge by Intelligent Systems for N64, running on an SGI INDY workstation. The software used is a command terminal program called "NLOAD" for the SGI IRIX Operating system.

It allows the user to load ROM's into the SRAM memory of the development cartridge, as well as specify a special debug address to receive debug messages. These messages are part of the ROM source code. I demonstrate this process in the second half of the video.

The debug messages are a huge asset to developers. It allows them to relay special data about the game during runtime. As well, they can be used to let the developer know when a certain point in the game code has been reached. This is a standard feature that most development cartridges will provide.

I also discuss, and briefly demo a version of the NLOAD program that was specifically used with the 64DD development drives and the SGI workstations.
