MINISTRY OF GENDER TO SETTLE THE CULTURAL CONFLICT

Dr Oruru Inaugrated Clan Chief
The minister of Gender Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi has rallied different cultural leaders to unite under one tribal leadership recognized by the government of Uganda.
Speaking at the Coronation of a clan chief in Lira, Amongi said her Ministry is preparing to mediate the warring factions in the Lango Cultural Institution.

Lango cultural Foundation has welcomed another member joining the institution as the clan chief. Dr Bosco Oruru was inaugurated a clan chief of Okii Awonaodyang by his highness the paramount chief of Lnago.

In attendance was the minister of Gender, Labour and social development Betty Amongi. She rallied cultural leaders unite under one tribal leadership recognized by Government.
On the power conflicts among the different tribal leadership in the country, Amongi said her ministry will dispatch a technical team to mediate the warring factions.
For close to a decade, Lango has two cultural factions; Lango Cultural Foundation under Mzee Yosam Odur Ebii and Tekwaro Lango under Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune the former executive director of Uganda Road Fund. However, Yosam Odur Ebii was gazette by government in 2019.
Meanwhile, the premier Lango Cultural foundation James Robert Ajal says the institution is promoting forestry and Perennial crops as a way of getting subjects out of poverty.
The cultural institutions were abolished in 1966, but the current government on the basis of rights to culture restored the institutions in 1993.
