The young, powerful, 50-year-old Bhimsen Joshi, at the peak of his form and popularity performs in Maharashtra's great Bombay University, in 1972. In this evening concert, he commences with the sombre raga Marwa, the vilambit Ektaal khayal being, 'Ab mil aaye apne piya ko' and tops it off with the drut Teentaal khayal popularized by Amir Khan, 'Guru bina gyan na paave'. He is accompanied by the excellent Vasant Achrekar on the tabla, whose stage presence is hard to miss. After this, Joshi renders a paramparik Kirana bandish in Puriya Dhanashree, 'Araj suno, paar karo naav meri', addressed to Khwaja Ajmeri. He then moves on to a drut Ektaal tarana, 'Dara deem tanom'. Information on harmonium accompanist is not available and the listeners' opinions on who this may be are welcome.
