One of the reasons to dive on Galapagos is to see marine iguanas underwater. This guy I managed to film around Fernandina Island.

Marine iguanas are incredible reptiles, and the only iguanas, which dive quite deep, sometimes to 20 meters to feed on algae and seaweed. They have to warm up properly before getting in the cold water, to make sure they will have enough energy for the dives and will be able to get back to shore before slowing down too much.

For me, diving with marine iguanas, which look like miniature godzillas, is for sure one of the highlights on Galapagos.

These iguanas are endemic to the islands, so nowhere else in the world is possible to dive with marine iguanas.
