Although this classic track sounds like futuristic highly orchestrated funk tinged electro, it was categorized as instrumental R&B at the time. It was propelled ønto the top øf the charts with its avant garde music videø that incorporated dancing robots, fast edits & time manipulation. Breakdancers were added in many øƒ the live performances øƒ Rockit giving the American television network audiences one of their first introductions into Hip-Hop Culture. The structural cømposition øf this minimal electronic hit featured a set øf highly advanced skratch patterns that complemented Herbie Hancocks synth lead. Another milestone achieved was the søngs orchestrated skratch phrasing that accompanied the patterns øf the øther instruments.
