🎣 Bank Fishing the Rock Pits in Horseshoe Beach, FL | Homemade “C” Bomb Lure Success!

Today, Ethian and I hit the rock pits at our hunting club in Horseshoe Beach, FL for a quick evening of bank fishing — and it turned out to be a blast! We only had about two hours to fish, but we caught plenty of bass using my homemade “C” Bomb lure paired with a 1/8 oz VMC weighted wacky hook.

The “C” Bomb is a lure I made out of scrap rubber left over from pouring other baits — similar to the popular Cue Bomb, but a little more customized. It was the star of the trip, landing 7+ bass between two rock pits.

Pit 1: Crystal clear water, where I caught 2–3 fish
Pit 2: Darker, tannic water, where I caught 3–4 more fish

🛠️ How to Make Your Own “Cue Bomb” (DIY)

1) Gather Materials: Old soft plastics, scrap worms, or torn baits you no longer use. Or use a new worm.

2) Cut worms or scrap into 1x1 inch pieces. Or whatever size you want to use.

3) Use large sewing needle or fly tying bobbin threader to push or pull skirt material through worm material. 6 to 8 pieces.

4) Rig it on a 1/8 oz weight wacky hook or a regular wacky hook and put a nail weight in your lure.

5) Now go catch a fish!

6) Thank me later!

🪨 Why Rock Pits Exist

Rock pits like these are dug out to extract limestone, a key material used for road base, construction, concrete production, and agricultural lime. When these pits fill with water over time, they often become prime fishing spots, with great structure and clean edges where bass love to ambush prey.
