El Camino de Costa Rica, Day 1: Barre de Parismina - Muelle de Goshen - 13 km

El Camino de Costa Rica is a gorgeous 280 km (174 miles) hiking trail from the Caribean Coast to the Pacific Ocean. Along the way you'll see monkeys, iguana's and a great variety of birds.

This first day includes two boat crossings and a short but beautiful stretch along the coast.

Small disclaimer: the distances may not be 100% accurate. The distances in the itinerary differed from those in the guidebook and from those measured by GPS. I stuck to the GPS mostly, but although usually I'm a purist intent on hiking every last inch, this time enjoyment and nature was more important to me than keeping track of the exact distance.
